Davenport Community Education Advisory Council

The Davenport Community Education Advisory Council, representing parents, community members and nearly forty youth service organizations, serves as an advisory council for the Davenport Community Schools on matters related to community education, including:

  • Promoting positive communications between the community and the school district
  • Promoting meaningful involvement of the total community
  • Mobilizing resources of the community to meet the needs of all ages and groups in the community
  • Developing networks to involve all sectors, resources and organizations of the community in ongoing support of public education
  • Promoting effective coordination among agencies, organizations, and the school district in serving the needs of youth and families

During meetings for the 2010-2011 school year, the Council will focus on an action plan that covers the key issues listed above as they relate to community planning, communication and resource coordination, and supporting a welcoming environment at our schools.  The Council will also be working to provide connections between the district's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan and the community based on follow-up from community sessions sponsored in September 2007.
