DAVENPORT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD NAMES
INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT
The Davenport Community Schools
Board of Education has named Norbert Schuerman, Ed.
D., as interim superintendent for the district.
Dr. Schuerman will serve in this capacity for
approximately one year – or until a permanent
replacement is found for James Blanche, former
superintendent who retired earlier this month.
Dr. Schuerman currently resides
in Omaha, Nebraska, where he has served in many
capacities during his long tenure with that
district. During that time, he spent 23 years as a
central office administrator, 14 of those years as
superintendent of schools. He retired from Omaha in
1997.
“The Board is pleased to have
someone who has such experience in both K-12 and
other community leadership,” notes Susan Low, Board
president. “Dr. Schuerman’s significant involvement
with urban education issues is also a significant
plus,” she adds.
Dr. Schuerman will begin his
duties as of August 1st, and will also be
providing some consulting hours as needed during the
remainder of July. He will be employed on a
month-to-month basis until a new superintendent is
in place.
According to Mrs. Low, the district will once
again work with McPherson and Jacobson, national
search firm, to re-open the search for
superintendent candidates in the fall.
